6 basic rules of skincare

Spread the love

Before jumping into the basic rules of skincare you should know why you should make skin care a daily part of your life. As we age our skin cell turn over time decreases. It becomes prone to damage, hyperpigmentation, sensitivity etc. Skincare is a way that you can prevent all the signs of pre mature aging, acne, hyperpigmentation. We should always take care of our skin.

So let’s talk about the basic rules of skincare:

1. Wash your face before bed

You should always remove dirt, makeup, sunscreen off of your face before going to bed. Night is the time when your skin turns to healing mode. So, when your skin is clean and you don’t sleep with all the dirt sunscreen or makeup on your face, you don’t get clogged pores or blackheads or acne etc. To make sure you are cleansing your skin properly you should try double cleansing. First melt the makeup, dirt or sunscreen with a oil based cleanser and then wash your face with a water based cleanser.

As we all know majority of pre mature skin aging happens because of Sunrays. The ultraviolet rays that reach the surface of the earth from the Sun are UVA and UVB rays. UVB rays are mostly responsible for sunburn, skin damage, skin cancer. UVA rays penetrates deeper into the skin and causes hyperpigmentation, fine lines & wrinkles. You need to protect your skin from both UVA and UVB rays. Use a sunscreen that is broad-spectrum, it gives protection of the skin against both UVA and UVB rays.

3. Use ingredients which are best for your skin

That is why if you are starting skin care learn about ingredients that are in your skin care product. For acne prone skin, look for ingredients like salicylic acid, benzol peroxide, niacinamide, vitamin A. For signs of pre mature aging look for ingredients like retinol, ceramide, peptides, hyaluronic acid. If you have hyperpigmentation look for glycolic acid, lactic acid, kojic acid. If your main concern is dryness use glycerin, hyaluronic acid, ceramides or just petrolatum. Also read: https://demystiifyingbeauty.com/3-best-acne-ingredients-which-are-super-effective/

4. Go slow with any type of chemical exfoliation

Chemical exfoliation has so many benefits for your skin, right? Exfoliation helps with blackheads, pigmentation, hydration, smoothing out of the skin, acne, damaged skin barrier etc. But those benefits also come with some disadvantages if you do not use this the right way. When you are newly introduced to exfoliation and you start to see results, it is easier to get carried away and we start using too much. We should be more careful with exfoliation because less is more.

5. Be consistent with your skincare routine

if you start using a product for 2 days and it doesn’t show the result that you are looking for, then you stop using it. Skincare is a part of taking care of yourself. You may not see results of your skincare right away, it takes time but when you start to see improvement on your skin, it will be worth it.  Well, skin care doesn’t work in a magical way. Be consistent with it. Some products take 2-3 months to show actual results.

6. Enjoy your time with skincare

Skincare is not some burden that you have to do. It is more like self-love, caring for yourself, taking care of your skin. In a long run you will see the benefits of skincare. It is more like the exercise you do for your body. You are taking care of the skin the same way you are taking care of the body by exercising or yoga. Make some time and enjoy it after a long busy day. Relax a bit maybe enjoy with some candles, flowers as you like it.

So, this is the 6 basic rules of skincare. Hope you enjoyed it!
