Let us know about the 7 best ways to get rid of tanning, but before that you should know what tanning is. Tanning is basically injury response of the skin which happens because of the UV rays mainly UVB rays. Some people tan easily and some people don’t tan easily. It all depends on the melanin pigment production of the skin. When we go out in the sun our skin produces melanin pigment to protect our skin. So, if someone does not tan or burn easily by the uvb rays their skin produces more melanin pigment. A suntan starts to fade naturally after 7-10 days.

7 Best Ways to get rid of tanning:

1. Wearing sun protective clothes

It is not always possible to avoid the sun because we have to go to work. What we can do is protect our skin from the sun. When you are out in the sun wear full sleeves clothes- full pant, full shirts, wear cotton clothes. Full sleeves clothes give you extra protection from the sun. You can also use hats, sunglasses to give extra protection to your skin. Our skin starts to fade tan within 7-10 days, wearing sun protective clothes save our skin from further tanning.

2. Sunscreen protection

Applying sunscreen throughout the day can save our skin from tanning. That is why we should be applying the SPF throughout the day. Slathering it once before going outside is not going to be sufficient because in humid weather we sweat and SPF losses its effect on the skin. You must reapply your SPF to make sure that the skin is protected from the harmful UV rays of the Sun most of the time. You should apply your SPF atleast 3-4 times a day, that is every 2-3 hours. If you are indoors, you can apply it once or twice, that will be enough. Sometimes people tan even after applying sunscreen. There can be a few reasons for that. One of the reasons why your sunscreen is not working is that you don’t apply enough sunscreen. You should be applying a thick layer of sunscreen and reapplying throughout the day for maximum protection. A little amount of SPF on the skin is not going to be enough, it can lead to skin tanning.

3. Vitamin C

Vitamin C is an anti-oxidant. You can apply vitamin c serum and then sunscreen over it. Sunscreen works great with vitamin c to give you extra protection from sun. Read full blog on vitamin c: https://demystiifyingbeauty.com/why-you-should-include-vitamin-c-in-your-skincare-routine/

4. Use umbrella

In the peak hour, the sun is at its maximum strength. You should always be using umbrella in the peak hour of the day to protect your skin from tanning.

5. Glycolic acid

Glycolic acid is a AHA or Alpha Hydroxy Acid which is an exfoliating ingredient. A suntan causes hyperpigmentation and since glycolic acid is an exfoliant it works great with decreasing hyperpigmentation from the skin. This acid can be used on face and body. For face exfoliation 5-10% of glycolic acid is enough and for body 10-12% is enough. Glycolic acid is easily available over the counter. It is available in serum form or cream form. You can choose either.

6. Kojic acid

Kojic acid is mainly used to increase brightness of the skin, to reduce hyperpigmentation. So, it helps to get rid of tanning by increasing brightness of the skin and reducing hyperpigmentation.

7. Chemical peel

Chemical peel sheds all the dead skin cells and helps skin generate new cells. It also can help to get rid of tanning by removing all the dead skin cells. Since chemical peel can only be done by dermatologist, you should consult a dermatologist. They can tell you which type of chemical peel you need or how many sessions you need to get rid of tanning.
