As we age, our skin cell turnover rapidly decreases. Our skin become more dry and dull. So, it is important to look after your skin in your 30s. Our skin naturally produces collagen. Collagen helps retain the skin barrier, it is good for the elasticity of the skin. Our skin looks healthy, young, plump. But Is it true that our collagen production decreases over time? Yes, it is true. Our skin produces less collagen over time so you can see signs of aging in your skin over time. But there’s nothing to worry about or you should not be thinking ‘Oh I am old now!’. Aging is a natural process. Aging process hits you in your 30s and 40s but this is something we should be prepared for. We cannot just escape from aging and have skin like when we were in our 20s, right? All that said, in your 30s you should be focusing the skincare on slowing down the aging process and not fight it.
Our skin also produces elastin which is responsible for the elasticity of the skin. Ceramides and elastin together strengthen the skin. Anti Oxidants
Make sure to include anti oxidants in your morning skincare. Anti oxidants help your skin from free radical damage, environmental stress. It also boost your sunscreen to give extra protection. You can use it in serum form or as moisturizer. The most famous anti oxidant is Vitamin C. Also you can look for ingredients like vitamin E, niacinamide or centella asiatica. Sunscreen
If you applied your sunscreen daily until now, it is great that you keep protecting your skin from the UV rays. You protect your skin from sun spots, melasma, hyperpigmentation by wearing SPF. So, keep applying your sunscreen just as you do. You should be applying a thick layer of sunscreen and reapplying throughout the day for maximum protection. PM routine
Retinoids/Retinol
Retinoids has proven to have anti-aging benefits, it reduces fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation. It boost collagen production, repair tissue. If you are in your 30s, you should include retinoids in your skincare routine. Use retinoids three to four times a week at night time only. Do exfoliation on the nights that you are not using retinol. Exfoliation helps in removing the dead skin cells. It helps in better penetration of the skincare products. Choose gentle exfoliants like lactic acid or mandelic acid.
Moisturizers
In your 30s you skin become more dry and dull. So moisture your skin in the last step to prevent skin dryness. Moisturizer is needed for every skin type, even when you have oily skin you should be using a moisturizer.
