Do’s in details

  1. Double Cleanse– To make sure you are cleansing your skin properly, do double cleansing. First melt the makeup, dirt or sunscreen with a oil based cleanser and then wash your face with a water based cleanser. If you are using only one cleanser don’t worry. You can always use your cleanser twice for double cleansing.
  2. Sunscreen– Use a sunscreen that is broad-spectrum, it gives protection of the skin against both UVA and UVB rays.
  3. Drink Water– You have to stay hydrated. Drinking water is not only beneficial for the skin but your overall health. When you are hydrated your skin looks fresh.
  4. Simplify your routine– Simplified routines actually works better for your skin. You get the benefits of the skincare products that you are using without complicating the routine.
  5. Use good quality product– Know your ingredients and do some research about the products that are best in the market. Now. good quality products does not mean expensive. You can get good quality products even on a budget.
  6. Get help from dermatologist– When you don’t know what to do with your skin concern always make that appointment. It will help you understand your skin better.
  7. Use separate towels for hair and face– We use hair care products which you won’t be applying to your face, right? So when we dry our hair with the hair towel and use it on our face we are transferring the chemicals and bacteria to the face. That is why you should use separate hair and face towels. Don’ts in details

  1. Makeup wipes as cleanser– Face wipes do not cleanse your face properly. It looks like you are removing your makeup because you can see the dirt or makeup on the wipe but what you are actually doing is rubbing the makeup around your face.
  2. Replacing products too early– If you start using a product for 2 days and it doesn’t show the result that you are looking for, then you stop using it. Skincare is a part of taking care of yourself. You may not see results of your skincare right away, it takes time but when you start to see improvement on your skin, it will be worth it.  Well, skin care doesn’t work in a magical way. Be consistent with it. Some products take 2-3 months to show actual results.
  3. Using too many products– Simplify your routine. Your skin get confused when you apply too many products and ultimately you won’t get any benefits from the products.
  4. Over exfoliation– Exfoliation in every step of your skincare can be the reason for over exfoliation. Suppose, you are using a cleanser that has BHA in it. Then you apply your AHA based serums and then apply a moisturizer which also has AHA or BHA in it. This can be too much for the skin to tolerate. Also if you are exfoliating daily, this can lead to over exfoliation. Read more about Over Exfoliation
  5. Skin picking– The habit of skin picking is very common. Continuous skin picking can injure the skin and lead to hyperpigmentation.
  6. Pop a pimple– It is our urge to pop the pimple. We like the white gunk that comes out of the acne and we think now the acne will heal and go away. But popping the pimple is actually causing you more damage. It leads to scarring and hyperpigmentation.
  7. Sleep with makeup– You should always remove dirt, makeup, sunscreen off of your face before going to bed. Night is the time when your skin turns to healing mode. So, when your skin is clean and you don’t sleep with all the dirt sunscreen or makeup on your face, you don’t get clogged pores or blackheads or acne etc.
  8. Scrubbing– Scrubbing is very damaging to the skin and constant use of such scrubs can give you micro erosions that lead to trans epidermal water loss, redness, inflammation, irritation. If you are using it on acne prone skin or sensitive skin, there is higher chance of increasing acne, redness, inflammation, or irritation to the skin which will lead to hyperpigmentation, skin darkening.
  9. Waxing your face– Your face skin is different than your body skin. Your face skin is more thin and softer than your body skin. So, waxing your face can cause small tears on the skin that we cannot see but eventually if you continue wax your face, dark spots appear. This can lead to hyperpigmentation. Waxing your face should be done with utmost care and you should consider doing it from a good qualified professional. Instead you can try Face shaving.
